since happy earth designs always strives to do what it can to reduce waste and make the earth smile, i thought sharing this project with others might inspire them to do the same.
upon exploring options to add flare to my new studio's walls, i came across several items online at various chain stores that not only cost a fortune, but are likely made in some foreign country out of material that would give the earth a stomach ache after it eventually ended up in a land fill.
all it took was picture frame wire i had sitting around and clothes pins purchased eons ago that were gathering dust in my linen closet.
making the images black and white lends a certain nostalgic feel to them that looks great, especially on a colorful wall.
total cost of project, hmmmm, maybe $2?
resources conserved, memories evoked and moolah saved.
mission accomplished.

eye of the beholder
after my nikon - which i primarily purchased for my jewelry business - went to camera heaven several weeks ago, the revelation finally sunk in that true skills are really mastered within the photographer and not the expensive equipment they hold. true, the more quality equipment, the more quality photos. nonetheless, it's really a matter of practice making perfect. this especially hit home when comparing the many photos i took with the fancy cam and my little point-and-shoot with the lens that has a mind of its own. the differences? not much.
so, straight from my sony camera that is still going strong despite its old-age quirks, another happy earth designs' creation for you to feast your eyes on.

create more, facebook less
the minutes are winding down and the countdown is on for this weekend's fashion show.
admittedly, one of the wisest business decisions i made since returning from the big island was to cancel my personal facebook account - for good this time. there are a myriad of reasons why, but on the top of the list is time seriously wasted. at least 100 pairs of earrings could have been made in the amount of time i spent on the networking site since january. what's more, the increased productivity since canceling has enhanced my ability to craft around 14 delicious danglers for the show saturday eve at 7 p.m.
so if you live on kauai, make sure stop by the north shore next to tahiti nui for a special night out featuring happy earth designs' jewels and some very talented garden isle wahine who i am honored to work with.
see you there, xo
